Ocean Without a Shore was created for the 20..... Venice Bienalle, installed in a de-consecrated chapel, San Gallo,

as a three vertcal panel piece situated inside the three altars in the church.

It was quite popular during the festival, "If you see nothing else at this year's Bienalle, don't miss this!" was one review in a British publication.

Photographed with an ingenious rig (see here) the performers came from the ghostly world to the corporeal world and returned to the place of the dead.

Tristan and Isolde, commisioned by the Paris Opera, has been a huge worldwide success since its premiere at the Opera Bastille in 2006.

As a collaboration between Viola, Esa Peka Salonen, and Peter Sellars, the film was projected behind the singers with no set pieces other than a bier.

The first two acts presented the film horizontally on a thirty foot screen, for the third act the screen was rotated vertically.

Tristan and Isolde "Trailer" made up using some of the footage.  Rusted Root music. The quotes are real. 2004.
